“If proximity is power then no other internship has been more important than my time at P3. As a former multi-sport athlete, I possessed a solid understanding of athletic performance but the detailed and thorough coaching I received created the foundation for the way I program today. P3 refined my understanding of traditional strength training and scientific research allowing me to formulate more sophisticated questions about my own training programs. The answers too many of the toughest training challenges are only important if you ask the right questions and P3 excels at asking the right questions. My time at P3 was unforgettable and I will always value the knowledge I gained from being surrounded by such high caliber coaching.”

“I came to Santa Barbara with a decade of experience but with tons of questions. I took a leap of faith to create a 3 month learning experience in between career roles and it was one of the best professional moves I have made to date. Prior to my internship at P3 my experiences had largely been focused towards developing athleticism specifically within elite youth soccer players. I would oversee long-term athletic development systems, with the aim of optimizing each individual’s physical potential. Like many athletic development systems we initially see tremendous improvements and plenty of value, however after that 3/4 year window we start searching for greater correlation. I still strongly feel this is where P3 is a head of the game and has the potential (the data) to be even further. The utilization of technology and data analytics to objectively inform highly individualized programs that as well as broadening our understanding of game movement brings us a lot closer to that end goal. As for the program, you are challenged actively within the system with a whole and healthy balance of theoretical practice and progressive hands on application, ensuring that the system is not just taught, it is learnt. I can’t recommend the learning experience strongly enough.”

“P3 exposed me to an all new type of training philosophy. Some aspects of the training done in this program I had been exposed to before, but they had never been articulated as clearly and combined into a program that seemed to make as much sense. P3’s staff doesn’t simply tell an athlete to do something and then walk away; they work with the athletes in order to make sure that the athletes not only are doing the exercises correctly, but that they understand what they are doing and what they can gain from this training.”

“I had a fantastic 2 months at P3- I had a few options to gain conditioning experience for the summer of ’06, but cannot imagine going anywhere else and getting so much out of an experience. For sports science students or exercise physiologists, P3 is an ideal place to go and apply/learn the most effective and specific ways to use current scientific principals in formulating quality power, speed and strength training programs. My time at P3 also allowed me to gain fantastic coaching experience, working with athletes with various experience ranging from high school athletes to Olympians. I have never come across such a detailed, conscientious and knowledgeable coach as Marcus and will remember my time at P3 with fond memories.
