Most training is guesswork.
High school athletes train hard. They go to camps. They lift. They run. But without objective movement data — and an expert to interpret it — they’re building on guesswork.
College sport demands precision. It starts with knowing exactly how you move.
Your visit
One day at P3.
Everything measured.
Your athlete spends a day with us at P3 in Santa Barbara or Atlanta.
The assessment. Full 3D motion capture at 220 frames per second, synchronized with force plates — the same protocol P3 uses with professional athletes.
Findings the same day. A P3 biomechanist walks you through the results in person before you leave: strengths, limiters, and priorities.
Two coaching sessions. The training the assessment calls for is taught in person, so your athlete leaves knowing how to do the work — not just holding a document.
Trainers and strength coaches may come and go. P3 is designed to deliver persistent intelligence.
What you leave with
Your data.
Your plan.
A written report within two weeks. Every key metric benchmarked against collegiate and professional athletes, with the priorities spelled out.
An individualized take-home program. Built from your athlete’s data and taught during the two coaching sessions.
A briefing for the coach back home. If your athlete trains with someone — a school strength coach, a club program, a private trainer — we’ll walk them through the findings and the program, with your athlete on the call, so everyone builds from the same picture. If not, the program is built for your athlete to run on their own.
Your P3 Athletic Profile
Built by P3’s biomechanical engineers.
Backed by 20 years of research and the deepest athlete movement database in the world. Every metric is reported as a percentile against that database.
20 years. 5,000+ athletes. The standard in human movement.
P3 was founded by Dr. Marcus Elliott, a Harvard-trained physician who pioneered 3D motion capture and force plate assessment in professional sport. Dr. Elliott is the 12th Augustus Thorndike Lecturer at Massachusetts General Hospital — the most prestigious lectureship in American sports medicine.
P3’s research has been published in peer-reviewed journals. The 2025 book Ballistic tells the full story — named a Next Big Idea Club selection and reviewed in the Wall Street Journal.
Over two thousand P3 high school athletes have earned college scholarships.
They came to P3 for exactly this.
Assessment, training, and training advice — the same three things a College Prep athlete gets. Several of them first came as high schoolers, before we had a name for the program. Luka was sixteen.
Trusted at every level.
As seen in the Wall Street Journal, ESPN The Magazine, Sports Illustrated, NBA.com, Fast Company and The New Yorker.
"My body feels better now than it did at 23 — and that doesn’t happen in pro sports."
Kyle Korver, NBA All-Star, 18-year career
"They focus on trying to balance out your body. I learned more about the body."
Kawhi Leonard, ESPN The Magazine
"When you have a prospect that young, the earlier you can expose him to P3 the better."
Bill Duffy, NBA agent, on Luka Dončić, Wall Street Journal
Don’t wait for injury.
P3’s proprietary models identify mechanical risk factors before they become problems. Trained on 20 years of outcome-linked data from over a thousand professional athletes, they don’t exist anywhere else.
The same mechanics behind those NBA knee injuries show up in high school athletes, usually years before anything hurts, and while there is still time to change them.
The people behind your program.
P3 College Prep athletes are guided by Lead Performance Coaches who work across every level of competition — from youth development through the professional and Olympic ranks.
Nick Potthoff — Lead Performance Coach, Santa Barbara. Nick joined P3 in 2023 and oversees athlete development for youth, collegiate and professional athletes. He holds a master’s in Applied Sports and Exercise Science from the University of Derby, and competed professionally overseas.
Tom FitzSimons — Lead Performance Coach, Atlanta. Tom joined P3 in 2022, having coached at the Olympic, collegiate and youth level, including combined-events athletes at the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games. He competed professionally as a decathlete and won bronze at the 2014 USA Track & Field Championships.
After your visit
Reassess every year. Athletes change quickly in high school. We recommend reassessing about twelve months later, in a window that fits your sport calendar, at a returning-athlete rate — so progress is measured, not guessed.
P3 Advisory and P3 Remote Training. For athletes who want P3 working alongside them all year, two options follow the assessment. P3 Advisory: a dedicated P3 coach guiding development between assessments. P3 Remote Training: two multi-day training blocks at P3 each year, with fully coached remote programming in between — all built on your athlete’s biomechanical data. Both are available on a limited basis, by invitation after the assessment.
The College Prep Assessment
$2,750. Includes the full biomechanical assessment, same-day findings, two in-person coaching sessions, a written report within two weeks, and an individualized take-home training program. Available at P3 Santa Barbara and P3 Atlanta.
What we don’t do. If your athlete is working through an injury, we can make suggestions — but rehabilitation depends on consistent in-person oversight from a professional, which we can’t provide remotely. We’ll always tell you what we can and can’t help with.
Tell us about your athlete and what they are working toward. We review every application and will come back to you either way.
